Scott McGregor is a recognised television personality, actor, producer and author with over thirty years of industry experience. McGregor’s passion for the great railway age led him to establish his own antiques and collectables company Off The Rails. Currently the face and force behind his boutique tour company, Railway Adventures, McGregor specialises in train tours to destinations all over the world.
Scott is a sought-after MC and speaker and has hosted a number of TV programs including The Stamp Of Australia and Australian Icon Towns on the History Channel. In addition to his involvement with history-based programs and railway travel, Scott has a keen interest in home renovation. For many years he was a regular DIY expert on Channel 7’s Better Homes and Gardens and host on the hugely popular Room for Improvement.
Scott has presented two series of his own Railway Adventures programs screened in Australia as well as abroad and was a regular face on the Lifestyle Channel as an antique and collectables expert and travel specialist. McGregor is the author of two books for Allen & Unwin entitled Big Boys Toys and Fix-It and his work has regularly been featured in the Sun-Herald.
Having trained as an actor at NIDA, Scott has featured in scores of TV series, films, stage plays and musicals since 1979. His acting highlights include starring roles in the ABC’s epic mini-series 1915 and The Coral Island as well as stage productions Bouncers and The Promise.
Scott enjoys his leisure time in NSW at both Ruwenzori Retreat – a luxury mountaintop tourist hideaway built from vintage railway carriages which he owns and operates in Mudgee – and his other holiday accommodation getaway, Chateau Poss, in Byron Bay.
McGregor currently resides in Sydney with his wife and two daughters.
